Project Engineer

Sunoco LP is a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 47 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Mexico. The Partnership's midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 9,500 miles of pipeline and over 100 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership's fuel distribution operations, which serve approximately 10,000 convenience stores, independent dealers, commercial customers, and distributors.

Summary:

Provide technical expertise for development, design, and execution of capital, expense, and maintenance projects in a safe, profitable, timely and efficient manner. 

Responsibilities:

Develops, designs, and performs cost estimation and prepares/submits “Authorization for Expenditures” (AFEs) for capital and expense projects. Evaluation, design, specification and estimation of costs, for preparation and submittal of project AFEs, is a vital function for this position. Prepares specifications and procures materials and equipment for a timely and efficient execution of projects. Provides technical support to all pipeline departments that will result in safe, efficient and cost effective installations. Performs engineering, design, installation, and startup of capital, expense and maintenance projects. Supervises contract personnel as needed to perform these functions. Performs cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects. Manages multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule. Follows all safety rules and guidelines as established by the Pipelines Department. Designs, specifies, and procures materials and equipment for projects. Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. Reduces potential risk to public safety and environment and minimize company liability.

Requirements: 

BS in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering required 2-5 years experience in engineering and project management required. 2-5 years exposure in a pipeline/petrochemical operating environment preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the capability to work with corporate and terminal/pipeline personnel, senior management, as well as applications licensors and other industry contacts required Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft products required. Proficient in Excel spreadsheet skills including strong macro writing skills required Strong interpersonal skills and capable of taking initiative and making decisions is required Basic knowledge of petroleum products and industry terminology required. Proficient project coordination and management skills required Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to proof work for accuracy In-depth knowledge of linear programming, terminal/pipeline processing, and terminal/pipeline optimization economics required Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as possess the capability to work efficiently in a team environment required Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, managing time and scheduling to meet appropriate deadlines
