Project Engineer Controls

The Project Engineer is accountable for the Controls (hardware/software) project design of engineering phase with top-down oversight from inception (Proposal) to completion (Customer buy off).
The CPE must ensure that all projects are prepared and completed safely adhering to the required standards of budget, timeline and scope.

 

Main areas of responsibilities are:

Coordinate the Designers, Technical Leaders and Engineers involved in the project, ensuring homogeneous solutions among all commodities Liaise with the customer, internal functions, and subcontractors to endure the smooth running if the project Evaluate and review customer requirements & specifications Review original baseline planning Review the engineering make/buy strategy Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progresses Manage the project within the budget Identify and document added/reduced scope of work with potential impact on resource workload, timing and costs Be appointed as customer technical interface Review and update the project open issues list, project risks and opportunities Monitor project cost to complete (CTC) Attend project reviews React promptly and effectively to customer needs Review engineering change for timing evaluation and define the best strategy to be implemented Monitor and update the status of the engineering change activities in each phase.

Knowledge & Skills:

Experience and knowledge in Automation Systems Interpersonal style(s) and communication methods to work effectively with project team and all functions to meet project goals and objectives Strong analytical skills coupled with practical, hands-on problem-solving approach Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Project etc.), and AutoCAD Knowledge of design techniques and tools involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Understanding of mechanical systems, their components, and the relationship of those systems to the controls design. Knowledge of controls systems and their components in order to construct controls systems architecture. Able to design hardware and or software from a clean sheet. Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education: Master or bachelor’s degree in automation or engineering is preferred
Previous experiences: At least 5 years’ experience in the automotive industry is preferred

 

 

Travel requirements: 20-40%
