For more information, visit our website, or connect with us on LinkedIn or Twitter. PURPOSE: Berry Global is seeking a Project Engineer for an open position within our Corporate Plant Engineering team. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting plant projects and corporate programs related to plant engineering, building systems, infrastructure, and improving plant operations. This individual will have the opportunity to work with multiple locations and with a number of Berry cross-functional teams to develop projects and ultimately support safe and proficient project execution. Responsibilities

2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:

2.1 Use caution and support facility systems to assure safety event free facilities.

2.2 Respond to any emergency or potential emergency following established procedures.

2.3 Observe, respond and report any instance of process or product non-conformity.

2.4 Security diligence: maintain control of key cards, prevent unauthorized entry to facilities by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry equipment.

2.5 Successfully complete Primary Duties as outlined in 4.0 and associated training.

 

3.0 AUTHORITIES:

3.1 Pause activity and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices.

3.2 Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.

3.3 Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels for continual improvement to products, processes, facilities, or systems and verify the implementation of those solutions.

 

4.0 PRIMARY DUTIES include tasks assigned by the CPE Director or Manager, in addition to:

4.1 Manage projects related to infrastructure equipment including process water, compressed air, and HVAC including design, specification, and installation.

4.2 Establish guidelines and best practices related to plant systems to ensure proper maintenance and safety standards are met.

4.3 Evaluate equipment condition and develop strategies including maintenance and capital improvement plans.

4.4 Identify and drive cost reductions related to utilities and infrastructure equipment, including energy reduction and efficiency improvements.

4.5 Support equipment moves, plant consolidations, and expansion projects to ensure facility and infrastructure is adequate to support operations.

4.6 Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert in process water, HVAC, or compressed air.

4.7 Plan and manage all aspects of capital projects including design, budgeting, funding requests, and installation.

4.8 Support plant personnel to troubleshoot infrastructure system issues and resolve problems.

4.9 Help evaluate existing facilities for plant expansions to establish initial budgets and timelines.

Qualifications

5.0 QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED:

5.1 Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 2+ years experience.

5.2 Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft tools.

5.3 Proven ability to conceptualize, design, lead and manage improvement projects.

5.4 Ability to manage multiple projects and meet timelines.

5.5 Ability to travel as needed, up to 50% of the time.

5.6 Experience with design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems preferred.
