Position Overview
International has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer-Electrical Wiring Harness to join their team in Lisle!
The Project Engineer-Electrical Wiring Harness will play an important role in the design, development, and implementation of electrical wiring harnesses within a vehicle, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from initial concept to production, ensuring the harness meets all functional, performance, and quality standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate the wiring system seamlessly into the vehicle design.
Responsibilities
+ Create detailed electrical wiring harness layouts based on vehicle schematics and component placement.
+ Select appropriate wire gauges, connectors, and other harness components to meet power and signal requirements.
+ Analyze harness functionality for potential issues like interference, voltage drop, and heat generation.
+ Develop project timelines and milestones for harness development, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
+ Manage supplier relationships for harness components, including quality control and cost negotiation.
+ Track project progress and identify potential risks to proactively address issues.
+ Collaborate with testing teams to develop test procedures for wiring harnesses, including electrical continuity, signal integrity, and environmental stress testing.
+ Analyze test results and implement design modifications as needed to address identified issues.
+ Work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the wiring harness with the vehicle system.
+ Communicate effectively with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production.
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
+ Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
+ At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
+ PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
Additional Requirements
+ Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
+ Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, including power distribution, signal transmission, and component interfaces
+ Experience with Siemens Capital Software Suite
+ Knowledge of automotive/trucking manufacturing processes and standards
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
+ Project management skills with ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets
+ Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams
