Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Project Engineer – Hydraulic and Hydrology Focus to join its collaborative team in Houston, TX. This individual will serve a key function in performing and coordinating the planning, design and permitting of civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects, and coaching, training, and overseeing staff. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a passionate, collaborative team of civil engineers, working on exciting and meaningful projects across many different market sectors. Our work includes projects in healthcare, higher education, distribution, K-12, commercial, office, retail, mixed-use, and more.

Job Responsibilities Perform complex hydrologic and hydraulic modeling solutions for various public and private client projects; provide analysis for specific portions of broader engineering and environmental projects; Perform watershed 1D/2D hydrologic analysis for outfall master planning, flood control conveyance, and detention facility design; Manage and deliver on multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Prepare progress reports and draft change orders.  Prepare draft invoices, project billings, and assist in payment collections; Effectively organize, write, and edit draft proposals, reports, and other documents; Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, learn to develop additional work within an existing project, and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients; Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments. Coach, train, and motivate staff assigned to projects. Participate in interviewing and hiring staff; Coordinate other work groups within the same or different office locations and/or within the same or different disciplines on an as-needed basis; Interface effectively and professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors, and others. Actively participate in internal and external technical presentations and produce written articles for internal and external publications; and  Perform other duties as requested. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Valid Professional Engineer license; Certified Floodplain Manager Certification; 6+ years of related site/civil land development experience; Knowledge of local city, county and state land use processes and regulations; Strong client development, client communication, client management abilities, and ability to develop new work; Site/civil experience on a variety of project sites including the ability to design site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept through completion; Demonstrated ability effectively managing projects from concept through construction documents; Self-starter with the ability to manage, motivate, mentor and lead others; Ability to work well on multi-disciplinary projects; Expertise in stormwater management design, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design, and SWPPP preparation; Experienced in technical and proposal writing; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proficiency of AutoCAD or Civil 3D; Ability to effectively interact with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies; Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities; Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
