Summary This is a software centric position within our cross functional, core product development engineering group. The Project Engineer, plans, manages, and coordinates the activities of designated engineering project(s) to ensure the goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters while adhering to Universal’s processes, policies, and best practices. Principal Accountabilities (Functional) + Provides cross functional and cross organizational leadership throughout all project phases. + Ensures requirements are well defined and documented. + Defines and documents technical solutions and proposals to meet project requirements. + Confers with appropriate staff to outline work, assign responsibilities, and scope of authority. + Provides formalized project proposals and plans consisting of work breakdown structure, project schedule and milestones, project cost, risk/issue management, and KPI metrics. + Directs and coordinates project activities to ensure projects progress on schedule, within budget, and meet requirement goals and objectives. + Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel, and modifies schedules or plans as required. + Prepares and presents project reports for management, clients, and relevant stakeholders. + Confers with project teams to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. + Coordinates project activities with government regulatory or other governmental agencies. + Engages and manages 3rd party contractors. + Defines SOW (statement of work), performs contract definition, negotiations, etc. + Provides management of services during execution. + Analyzes issues and can step in, to solve technical issues and assist employees in solving problems. + Performs other job-related duties as required. Minimum Requirements + BS Degree with 4+ years of technical experience in an applicable engineering discipline. (i.e. Software, Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, etc.) + Notable progressive growth from original discipline to at least 3+ years of experience in managing cross-functional projects and teams. + International experience preferred. + Experience in robotics and automation machinery experience is preferred. Physical Demands + Ability to communicate clearly with fellow colleagues, and in giving presentations. + The ability to travel to customer sites or technical conferences is required (up to 10%) Universal Instruments is an EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled employer Target Annual Base Pay: $117,500 - $130,300 + Robust Benefits
