Position Summary:

The Project Engineer plans, organizes and directs assigned new product engineering projects or process improvement projects from initiation to validation and through the project closure phases. The Project Engineer is a vital interface for Cirtec Medical’s precision components team in that it collaborates with customers, internal technical engineering teams, and vendors to effectively lead and complete assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate timely design engineering of flashless transfer molds, spares, and accessory tooling. The Project Engineer will work with vendors and internal design engineering teams to design, build, and qualify new tools. The Project Engineer will also own timing and completion of process validations on new mold launches. (Project Management) Provide quotations on estimated tooling costs, mold designs, layouts, and new product introduction projects. Actively participates in new product development chemists, process engineers, tooling engineers, tooling vendors, and the operations team. Maintains engineering files Define, itemize, and write purchase orders for molds, spares, and other tools required for expansion of current projects or new product introductions. Works closely with internal and external mold shops to ensure the best mold design and build possible to help achieve a goal of zero rework. Interface with customers regarding part and mold designs and support Cirtec Medical Sales Ensure all validation activities are planned and executed in compliance to the Company’s quality management system. Utilize AutoCAD, Pro-E and Solid Works for flashless rubber transfer molds 2D and 3D mold design Reviews and approves customer drawings in conjunction with Process Engineers, Tooling Engineers, and the site’s Engineering Manager. Works with Process Technicians to maintain, review, and revise processes and procedures, as necessary, to increase efficiency and effectiveness for all aspects of operations including ECN’s. Will operate or supervise the operation of presses and other equipment such as OGP, Microview vision system or optical comparator, calipers, micrometers, etc. as necessary throughout validation and manufacturing phases of operation to provide assurance to process parameters and settings. Reviews work order and procedural manuals to determine dimensions of design. Maintains engineering files in Microsoft project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CAD, and SolidWorks Works closely with internal and external mold shops to ensure the best mold design and build possible to help achieve a goal of zero rework.

Must Have:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in an Engineering discipline Minimum 3 years’ experience with rubber and project management AutoCAD and/or Solidworks experience Must Have validation Experience; project management experience High volume manufacturing in a flashless rubber transfer molding process is preferred. Experience molding, mold and tooling management, along with project management is required.

Good to have:

Knowledge of GD&T, and MiniTab are preferred.
