D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Project Engineer of Vidler Water. The right candidate will provide assistance to the engineering department with technical engineering operations within the assigned areas of water, water rights, land development, and general engineering. Perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks related to the assigned area of responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepare requests for proposals for consulting services, review plans for consulting engineers and private contractorsReview and provide input to right-of-way agreements, professional services agreements, and cooperative project agreements with other agencies and entitiesCalculate the quantity, quality, and cost of materials; prepare plans and specifications related to assigned projectsCoordinate the construction inspection of projects; ensure conformance with contract plans, specifications, and applicable codesParticipate in water right acquisition/disposition and related permitting mattersWork with management and technical staff on the development of water assets including exploration techniques, methods, and resource data analysisWork with management on zoning, parceling, and development of land assetsWork with management and legal team on legal matters relating to company projects and assetsEnsure project compliance with federal, state, and local rules, laws and regulationsCoordinate phases of major construction projects and prepare progress reportsAssist with comprehensive engineering studies and prepare reports with appropriate recommendationsVerify engineering design computations and check, design, and prepare engineering plansReview third party engineering plans and specificationsPerform technical research and solve difficult engineering problemsAnalyze engineering and non-engineering problems, identify alternative solutions, and present solutionsPrepare and maintain comprehensive records and prepare technical reports and recommendationsPrepare and assist with administration of a project budgetCoordinate activities related to the maintenance of water rights records for corporate water assetsOversee records of ownership of water resources, land, and easementsOversee and administer state required monitoring reportsRepresent the company and give presentations at public meetingsMaintain current knowledge of recent developments, current literature, and sources of information regarding general civil engineeringRetain current knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local lawsConducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or universityMinimum 3 years of engineering experience Registered, licensed and active P.E. in Nevada (within 1 year)Registered, licensed and active Nevada Water Right Surveyor (within 6 months)Principles and practices of general civil engineeringComprehension of principles and practices of budget preparation and administrationProficiency of methods, materials, and techniques used in the construction of projects Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writingProficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, and Google EarthFamiliar with AutoCAD, including Civil 3DAbility to deliver effective and engaging presentations to a variety of audiencesAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and emailAbility to sit for the majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral visionThe noise level is generally moderate.
