About the job:
Kent is looking for a Project Engineering Manager to be based in our Houston, TX office.
The purpose of this position is to provide overall engineering execution leadership on small to mid-sized projects. This position has the responsibility and accountability for the performance of the engineering team and the successful execution of all engineering work on the project. This position also leads and guides the development and implementation of the execution strategy and oversees development and enforcement of engineering budget, schedule, and quality.

You will be responsible for leading the engineering team in early FEED and Detail Design. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the technical engineering activities associated with assigned projects and/or clients.

You will typically support projects valued at up to $250M TIC.Skills and Responsibilities: Provide technical oversight of assigned projects from early Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through detailed design and construction.Define scope of work, prepare estimate (all classes from conceptual to detailed) and schedule.Support the interfaces between the engineering disciplines, by understanding the discipline work processes and looking ahead to identify critical busts and / or activities that need to be completed to support the execution strategy.Support the positive project culture in conjunction with the Project Manager.Lead/support engineering schedule planning sessions to capture key inter-dependencies, verify key milestone dates are aligned with discipline control level schedules, key design reviews are incorporated in the engineering plan and level 3 schedule, Model Reviews are scheduled based on meeting required pre-requisites.Own the project engineering schedule, and ensure that correct engineering sequence is maintained, or mitigations put in place. Achieve buy in and subsequent ownership from the discipline leads.Champion and support engineering through Project execution, by providing a culture that supports open communication of issues and concerns that is focused on resolution.Verify that the engineering discipline leads are internally aligned and adequately interact with one another and provide input to engineering departments regarding work process issues and opportunities for improvement.Verify that health, safety, and environmental factors are incorporated in the design.Prepare/review scopes of work for third party contracts.Ensure coordination of interfaces among engineering disciplines and with procurement, construction, vendors, and partners.Lead/support the implementation of Change Management procedures for engineering functions to identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and review/approve trends or change orders.Plan, schedule, and conduct the required design reviews in support of project schedule (Design Reviews, P&ID Reviews, Safety Reviews, 3D Model Reviews) and in accordance with company requirements, verify that design comments / Action items /parking lot items have been resolved and closed out.Mentor project staff by providing guidance, instructions, and expert level technical advice.Analyze situations, identify, and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action.Engage with Discipline Leads and Engineering Department Managers to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate to achieve the engineering schedule commitments.Develop and recommend improvements in engineering and design standards to lower cost and improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards.Multiple office project execution.All other duties as assigned. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 20 years O&G industry experience with a minimum of 15 years in a Project Engineering Manager and/or Project Engineer role is required.Previous experience as a Project Engineering Manager on mid to large size EPC projects is required.Experience leading Front End Engineering Design, Detailed design and construction on process facility projects preferred.Petrochemical, Polyethylene or related experience and US Gulf Coast project experience is required.P.E. license (preferable in the State of Texas) required.Prior multiple office project execution experience.Previous FEED and EPC projects experience required.
