Job Description
Join a dynamic team of engineers and scientists dedicated to developing and implementing removal and remedial actions for the cleanup of environmentally impacted sites and abandoned mines. This role involves engineering design, plan development, cost estimation, and construction oversight. Additionally, you will support pilot studies for new mine cleanup technologies and approaches, and act as a liaison between field operations and engineers.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop designs for removal and remedial actions at environmentally impacted sites and abandoned mines.Perform engineering design tasks, develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates.Support engineering alternative evaluations for remedial actions at abandoned mines.Conduct pilot studies for new technologies and approaches for mine cleanup.Provide construction oversight for design implementation by construction contractors.Oversee field construction activities, including the use of heavy equipment and construction management.Communicate with clients and contractors during construction and serve as a liaison between field operations and engineers.Manage projects, budgets, and teams.Essential SkillsOSHA 30HAZWOPERCERCLAExperience with environmental investigations and analysisExperience in mining projectsEIT or PE certificationFamiliarity with GISProfessional or Registered Geologist certificationAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with the design and construction of disposal cells, waste piles, evaporative covers, erosion controls, stormwater routing, road design, slope stabilization, and restoration techniques.Experience with engineering design and construction oversight.Familiarity with heavy equipment, earthwork construction, and land surveying.Experience with environmental remediation, mining and mine reclamation, particularly in the southwestern United States.Experience with uranium mining and mills, interaction with regulatory agencies, and tribal lands.Excellent communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat.Statistics experience is a plus.2-7 years of relevant experience (open to mid to level candidates).Physical capability to hike to high terrain mining sites carrying field equipment (35-40 pounds).Valid driver's license in the United States with a good record.Ability to pass an NVR.Work Environment
This position is a combination of desk work and fieldwork, with approximately 30% travel required. Fieldwork involves working on uranium mines in Albuquerque, NM, primarily from April to September. The fieldwork schedule includes two weeks on-site followed by one week off, with travel, accommodation, food, and rental car provided. During off months, work is remote, focusing on documentation and report writing. Candidates must be physically capable of hiking to project sites, carrying equipment, and working in high elevation terrain. The role offers a hybrid schedule and flexibility, with opportunities for further education and career development.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $43.00/hr.
