The Army Platforms Department (N217) mission is to provide world class engineering to rapidly migrate the U.S. Army from operational concepts through technology exploration and innovation to the fielding of integrated solutions that provide an asymmetric advantage. Key sponsors of the Department work program include PEO Missiles and Space and PEO Aviation (Huntsville, AL), PEO Ground Combat Systems and the Ground Vehicle Support Center (Ann Arbor, MI), JPEO Ammunition and Armament (Picatinny Arsenal, NJ), Army Test and Evaluation Command (Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD) and JPEO Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (Edgewood, MD). The work programs leverage a diverse set of technical disciplines from within the Department and across the corporation to maximize our impact in solving some of the Army’s toughest modernization challenges in the areas of Agile software development, Cyber resiliency, directed energy, digital engineering, autonomous systems, and command and control. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Primary interface to multiple senior sponsors within PEO AviationBuild and maintain relationships with PEO AVN’s senior leadersDefine and lead fast-paced, high impact work in the areas of systems engineering, concept development, and autonomyDirectly contribute to Modeling and Simulation and MBSE tasks as the project growsStaff and lead a diverse MITRE teamGrow MITRE support in high-impact areas that we currently do not have direct supportEnable the sponsor’s mission through the delivery of concise, impactful technical deliverables, briefings, reports, and Executive level recommendations to senior sponsorsCollaborate external to MITRE with PEO AVN, other FFRDC/UARC partners as well as contractorsCollaborate internally with MITRE Project Leads, Department Manager, and Chief EngineerThrough deep understanding of PEO AVN mission, provide thought leadership and clear, timely, actionable recommendations in multiple areas focused on systems engineering and autonomy strategies/concepts

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experienceDegree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplineExtensive experience with Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, and Autonomous systems engineeringExperience with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) toolFamiliarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UMLExperience working with DoDAdept at clearly communicating concise, actionable recommendations to Senior LeadersExperience leading multi-disciplinary teamsSecret ClearanceThis position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with the ArmyKnowledge of Army systems and Program Managers especially in the areas of systems engineering and autonomyExtensive Experience with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) toolExperience developing Model-Based Systems Engineering artifacts in SysML or UML and leading teams focused on System of Systems EngineeringExperience with AGILE frameworkTop Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI
