Your Opportunity

Our Vancouver office is seeking a Project Management and Delivery Lead responsible for leading a team Project Managers and Project Controls Specialists to drive the implementation of a unified service offering across the Business Centre in support of excellence in project execution and operational success. In this role, you will be responsible for the vision and development of a unified Project Management and Controls team able to respond to diverse projects including alternate delivery, small studies to large $10M+ fees, as well as client and sector specific requirements. 

Responsible and accountable for:

Project Management and Controls Leadership – formulating and implementing project management/controls resourcing and strategy including standards of excellence, effective and consistent project financial management, team structure, resourcing, and development. Community of Practice – fostering collaboration across the Business Centers, Operation Leaders, and Project Managers to drive a unified approach to commercial project management / project controls that enhances our position in the market while supporting internal project management, reporting and compliance.

The Project Management and Delivery Lead will advance these responsibilities through engaging across the region with local Project Managers and Operation Leaders.

This role will sit within the local Buildings Business Centre and report to the Regional Major Projects Lead for Canada West. It is estimated this person will spend 60% of their time supporting projects and 40% supporting initiatives for their local Business Centre. 

Your Key Responsibilities Project/Practice Management: Directly manage large and complex projects to achieve client satisfaction, quality deliverables, schedule, and budgeting objectives Work with our Project Team and Partners to create and execute project execution plans, including work plans, resource plans, risk management plans, etc. Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scope Assume responsibilities (in partnership with the assigned principal) for technical and design excellence Ensure project documents, including contracts and additional service requests are approved, and filed in accordance with Stantec processes and procedures Risk Management   Meet regularly with the Operations Lead to review active and upcoming pursuits Participate in all Project Risk Reviews in your Province Assist local PM's and Pursuit Leads in meeting the requirements of the Risk Review process - Ensure the team is set up to succeed Escalate issues and risks to Major Projects Lead and Operations Lead as appropriate PM + Project Controls Assist in establishing PM + Project Controls as a distinct discipline with your Province –  encourage and facilitate strengthening of the PM / Controls culture  Establish a clear understanding of PM and Project Controls career path in Stantec through resourcing initiatives, goal setting and performance initiatives  Identify the key PM and Project Controls resources to support your Province and address any gaps. Develop resourcing plans accordingly. Organize and deploy PM and Controls resources to ensure the Business Centre and Operations Lead’s financial and project delivery needs are met Active Commercial Oversight + Governance  Organize and execute a commercial governance program throughout the Province reinforcing PM best practices and the principals of incremental improvements in our PM eco system / culture Ensure local PM's are supported and trained in a way that compliments their individual strengths/weaknesses Escalate key risk items making recommendations on PM resourcing adjustments on Projects in the Province as needed Maintain clear understanding of the Business Centers project portfolio and the Operations Leads month-to-month financials, impacts, etc. Act as a conduit between the Operations Lead and Project Managers in the Province reinforcing accountability to best practices and PM Frameworks. Leadership and Teamwork: Mentor and inspire project team members - Motivate your team to work together efficiently Manage team development by aligning project tasks with capabilities and career interests Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change Remain engaged and knowledgeable regarding emerging industry practices Comply with and help to enforce Stantec policies and procedures Effectively utilize each team members to his/her fullest potential Mitigate team conflict and communication challenges Consistently acknowledge and appreciate team members and their contributions Keep track of lessons learned and share those lessons with team members, peers, and clients Communications: Facilitate and hold regular team and client meetings Keep project team well informed of changes and updates Deliver engaging, formative, well-organized presentations both verbally and in writing Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information Client Management & Business Development: Manage day-to-day client interaction and key account management activities – evaluate and manage client expectations Seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and develop lasting relationships with clients Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs, evaluate alternative solutions, and deliver value added services Build a knowledge base of each client’s business, organization, and objectives Identify business development and additional service opportunities for all Stantec disciplines as they relate to a specific project, program, or client. Engage in proposal efforts, including completing project scoping and pricing Your Capabilities and Credentials Possess general understanding of core and shell and interiors design and construction Experience managing large complex projects (Healthcare, Commercial, Retail, Aviation, Transportation, Education, and Justice) Demonstrated experience in Alternative Project Delivery models Education and Experience Bachelor or Master’s degree in project management, architecture, engineering, interior design, or equivalent in work experience. Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing complex projects and team’s. Professional designation and/or PMP preferred

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby) Min Pay Range: BC Other Areas $124,800 Max Pay Range: BC Other Areas $187,200 Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
