JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing strategic and operative planning of large, complex and critical regional and global IT programs and projects (resources, cost, time, dependencies & risk planning and management), including defining application architecture e.g. lead due diligence activities and post-merger integration activities across all IT disciplines (infrastructure and applications).

 

Essential Functions:

Lead Due Diligence Phase for new acquisitions by analyzing IT architecture, applications, security, and integration topics with focus on ERP. Prepare, schedule, coordinate and lead Post Merger Integration (PMI) activities of new acquisitions in IT area for Knorr-Bremse, including defining the application architecture for the activities and planning an integration for the global Knorr-Bremse SAP template. Define or modify technical IT and process templates for PMI processes with focus on IT infrastructure architecture and application portfolio. Define standards & methods for the IT due diligence and integration process to strengthen collaboration and continuous improvement within the global DD/PMI team. Help perform gap analysis of existing business processes versus global Knorr-Bremse standard processes in ERP and derive, implement action plans to ensure proposed architecture meets business and IT needs. Support the integration of new companies into the global KB standard IT environment and standard processes of Knorr-Bremse. Moderate the integration between new companies and KB IT & business departments. Coordinate the definition of future business and IT processes in alignment with existing global standards. Lead assigned global PMI project area and implement the agreed results and deliverables in time, cost, and quality. Assist in driving and directing cross-functional teams and coordinating multi-functional activities to meet milestones and deliver projects on plan. Ensures the resolution of critical issues during the entire cycle of the project. Able to create and maintain business cases for new opportunities based on product line and business strategies. Conduct project approvals, project reviews and management updates. Provides strong direction, decisions, and actions, including adjustments to project scope, costs, and timelines to ensure successful completion. Ensure proper communication to all stakeholders inside and outside the project area. Identify & monitor risks and initiate mitigation actions as necessary. Perform change management in assigned project areas. Coordinate and design architecture, operational concepts, rollouts, and training plans. Help manage external vendors and service providers.

 

Knowledge:

Experience with Due Diligence activities. Sound knowledge in general IT; tool / application / process knowledge desirable. In-depth understanding of business and management processes needed for successful project completion. Accomplished in organizing, managing, and completing projects/product launches to measurable targets. Fluent in written and spoken English. Interface with business users and analyze project scope in conjunction with IT functional managers. Participate in defining, integrating, and supporting other IT departments and team members as required. Technical knowledge relative to business and management principles and methodologies such as ITIL or CMMI are a big plus. Exposure to major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics (Operations, Financial, Human Resources, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales).

Experience:

9+ years of professional experience in managing SAP processes as well as experience as project lead / architect for at least 2-3 SAP projects or sub-projects in the area of sales and distribution, logistics or finance and controlling. Hands-on experience in project methodologies (e.g. PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2). Experience with agile project management methods such as SCRUM preferred. Proficient in MS Office (Project, Power Point, Excel, Visio, Word, Outlook etc.) and experience with presentation skills – including preparation or presentation and the use of different presentation media and techniques. Experience working with MS O365 tools (Sharepoint, OneDrive, MS Teams, etc). Hands-on experience in project methodologies (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) as well as agile project management methods such as SCRUM – if possible supported by a certification. Professional experience in managing programs / projects of at least 20 team members, including change management aspects in a matrix organization. Experience in working with cross-functional teams and matrix organization setup. Experience in an automotive or transportation environment preferred.

 

Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills to successfully team with software vendors, outsourcing partners and KB regional & global business and IT associates in matrix organization. Excellent communication (written and spoken) skills required and has a professional presence and ability to think and act in a structured way. Results oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks. Self-starter with perseverance and the creativity to overcome obstacles to achieve project objectives especially when working with remote teams. Must be able to perform as an effective member in a global, team-oriented environment, maintain a positive attitude, and achieve desired results while working with minimal supervision. Ability to budget and to consider different budget strategies when involved in making decisions on the Project Management team. Motivates others through positive interactions. Listens to others and provides feedback while managing the flow of project information and task completion.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, or other related discipline required. Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent required. English language skill required. ITIL knowledge and certification a plus. Greenbelt certification a plus.

 

Position Requirements: 

Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
