The role
As a Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role is based within our Mission Systems business area. Babcock is a trusted provider of integrated solutions for global defence and security. We have a wide portfolio of best-in-class intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance solutions, communications, and weapons launch and handling solutions across all domains, integrating the best of industry to meet our customers’ needs.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the design contract for the Weapon Handling and Launch System, Life Raft or Shore based trainer for the new Dreadnought Class of Submarines, this will include key customer and supplier stakeholder management.  

Manage key aspects of a project i.e. safety, scope, cost, schedule, finance, risk, quality, and resources to achieve the projects agreed objectives.

 

Form and manage effective relationships with project stakeholders both internally and externally. Be responsible for managing third party suppliers to achieve the desired project outcomes. Adhere to governance arrangements for the delivery of the project, including gate review and assurance requirements. This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Project Manager 

Previously managed a design-based project and are able to demonstrate that the requirements of the project were successfully met within a highly regulated industry such as defence, oil and gas or the nuclear industry. Commercial and financial awareness are key, you will have experience of supporting the generation and presentation of forecasts and budgets. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, form and manage successful relationships with all project stakeholders both internal and external.  Knowledge of project controls tools and how these tools operate to provide key information for decision making

 

Qualifications for the Project Manager 

PMQ or PPQ or equivalent

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
