Job Description
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle from the planning phase to the final milestone, ensuring the ship is successfully delivered back to the customer. The role requires in-depth knowledge of both Combatant and Non-Combatant vessels. The Project Manager will perform complex analysis, concept formulation, and identify new methods within defined objectives. Acting as the prime point of contact for customers, the Project Manager ensures the avoidance of inaccurate decisions and errors that could risk the organization's fiscal position or reputation.
ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the project from development to completion, ensuring all milestones are met.Serve as the primary point of contact for customers.Conduct independent, complex analysis and develop new methods.Ensure accurate decision-making and information dissemination to avoid fiscal and reputational risks.Maintain professional relationships with Teaming Partners and Sub Contractors.Track milestones and work percent complete for all contracted work.Notify the Accounting Department upon work completion for timely invoicing and payments.Supervise all employees assigned to the project team.Essential SkillsProject management experience with CVN or LHD class ships.Minimum of six years of shipboard repair experience within a Public or Private shipyard.Experience managing technical personnel within complex activities or shipboard availabilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Ability to navigate in the computer server environment.Valid driver’s license with reliable, insurable transportation.Ability to gain access to Government facilities and obtain a Security clearance.Willingness to work nights and weekends during peak workloads.Willingness to travel and manage ship repair availabilities in remote, out-of-state locations.Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including a respirator.Additional Skills & QualificationsAA/AS degree plus 2 years of directly related experience or 6 years of directly related experience.Experience working within a “Cost Type” or “Fixed Type” Contract is a plus.Prior military experience with the US Navy in an engineering or directly related field is preferred.Work Environment
The Project Manager will report to the Deputy Program Manager and will work on Navy ships, primarily focusing on repairs and modifications. The role involves maintaining professional outsourcing relationships with Teaming Partners and Sub Contractors. The work environment may require working nights and weekends during peak workloads and managing ship repair availabilities in remote locations. The Project Manager must be able to wear personal protective equipment and will have supervisory responsibility for the project team.
