The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division is seeking an Project Coordinator/Manager to join the Roadway Network System (RNS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) team to manage multiple IT projects through the administration of the necessary and appropriate tasks in a web-based issue tracking system. The selected candidate will:
-Gather functional and integration requirements into web-based tracking system for multiple IT projects;
-Define and prioritize test objectives, design test plans and test cases;
-Review, validate, and manage reported defects of the tracked systems or applications;
-Administer application release schedules based on program / project priorities and timelines;
-Analyze and report on quality metrics on the progress of the application;
-Follow the appropriate IT change management policies and procedures;
-Aid in maintaining project and resource schedules;
-Assist in communicating questions, timelines, and expectations to internal business units;
-Support system and application training efforts.
The Information Technology Division meets VDOT's critical business needs by improving agency responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, through innovative research, defined architectures, planning, and optimal use of technology. RNS provides universal enterprise data access by linking geospatial and business attributes to roadway centerlines via a web-based application.
Demonstrated ability to use logic and reasoning to identify, analyze and recommend various solutions or approaches to problems; effectively communicate orally and in writing with internal business groups; interact comfortably and professionally in a team-oriented environment; handle multiple projects with high priorities; work in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of IT application development lifecycle. Experience with use of Microsoft Project (Server), HP Quality Center, Microsoft Access/Excel, RDBMS databases, financial management and other project management systems. Demonstrated experience in synthesizing and analyzing data in spreadsheets and / or databases, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) is required, and experience in transportation industry is preferred, but not required.
