Description:  The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for leading large Unix to Linux migration projects/sub-projects, performing detailed planning, and managing project execution/completion. Define the phase deliverables, track milestones, schedule roles and resources, evaluate risks and recommend contingency plans. Manage the development and technical strategy of each stage of the project. Assign resources and tasks, and manage quality assurance, resolution of issues, status reviews/reporting, development of standards, change control, customer support, and compliance with all policies and procedures. Generally leads a group of IT technical staff, relying on experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Requirements include:
• PMP / PMI / CDMS certification or equivalent
• Proven track record of managing large projects (15+ full time resources) requiring coordination with multiple organizations
• Data center migration/consolidation and/or application migration experience in a multi data center environment
• Application migration from Unix (AIX and Solaris) onto Red Hat Linux experience is a must.
• Experience with server and/or application decommissioning is a huge plus.
• Application/workload centric approach to data center/application migrations
• Experience managing v2v, p2v, p2c migrations leveraging industry tools like Platespin, VMotion, Appzero etc. on Wintel platforms and equivalent tools on the Unix platforms
• Strong communications skills and ability to think on their feet
• Consultative approach -willing to make recommendations and or point out issues to the client, intellectually challenge them etc.

Additional information:
• 10+ total years of related migration project management experience
• Experience managing fixed priced engagements
• Management of technical teams, scheduling and resource allocation
• Capture business context information (i.e., SLA's, business outage tolerances, etc.)
• Identify business events and schedules that may affect the migration timelines
• Identify migration windows and outage requirements that can be communicated to the business
• Define migration dependencies
• Develop recommended migration method for each migration group along with alternative options
• Define contingencies for migration groups and migration events
• Incorporate migration groups and schedule into a Migration Strategy Report
• Develop/Maintain a Migration Project Plan that describes milestones, major task items, and durations for subsequent detailed planning and execution phases
• Knowledgeable of all project documentation and deliverables including schedules, issue, action and risk logs, test plans, executive presentations and associated documents required for consolidation/migration/relocation projects
• Knowledge of IT Operational Process/Standards, e.g. Change Management, Release Management
• Provide input to Client PMO on general communications and change management to Stakeholder
• Experienced with multi-vendor/client business unit coordination and management
