Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple small/medium scale projects/work packages to time, cost and quality or work alongside a Senior Project Manager to support delivery of a programme of works.
The post holder will report into the Programme Manager and will perform matrix management of people across multi-disciplined functional teams within Airwave, supplier and customer organisations. The Project Manager will be required to identify inter-project dependencies and conflicts with other high priority projects and ensure any conflicts are resolved at an appropriate level within the company.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The end-to-end delivery of a number of small/medium scale projects/work packages to the time, cost and quality parameters agreed with the project sponsor.
Matrix management of people across multi-disciplined functional teams within Airwave, supplier and customer organisations.
Identifying inter-project dependencies and conflicts with other high priority projects and ensuring any conflicts are resolved at an appropriate level within the company.
To perform project definition, planning the key stages and interdependency planning.
To ensure risks are captured, owned and actively managed and reported upon.
To provide accurate and timely management information to a level/timescale agreed with Programme Manager/project sponsor.
Lead a cross-functional team consisting of Product Management, Technical Design, Service Design, Service Centre, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and suppliers, to ensure a unified execution around product and service delivery.
To follow Airwave processes for Project delivery.
Develop the project scope and produce the corresponding approach and organisation required to deliver the project.
Produce and manage project plans and schedules to ensure successful delivery, including management of project change control.
Identify, define and assess issues, for identifying impact on the project or projects.
To develop and drive through mitigation plans with project team and key stakeholders to maintain project schedule.
Manage the reporting and communication with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that progress and escalations are reported concisely and timely.
Establish, build and manage customer relationships by direct customer contact or via customer relationship management personnel.
Ensure a clear understanding of competing stakeholder priorities, balancing the priorities of the organisation alongside those of external stakeholders.
The post holder will also have full financial responsibility for the projects within their control and will ensure robust CAPEX and/or OPEX planning and resource plans within Airwave resourcing tools are in place and under constant review to maintain delivery to time, cost and quality. Where the project budget is held elsewhere (e.g. by the Project Sponsor), the Project Manager will be responsible for robust reporting of spend against that budget to the holder and for highlighting and agreeing any anticipated variations to agreed tolerances as soon as they are foreseen. Budgets are variable but may be as significant as several hundred thousand pounds.
The post holder will ensure the accuracy of financial forecasts, including the forecasting and tracking of any revenue associated with their projects.
Bring a controlled close to the project including compilation of lessons learnt report.
Ensuring that the portfolio of projects are managed in accordance with the company H&S policy and any associated regulatory requirements (e.g. CDM).
Key tasks that should be undertaken within this role:
Produce project initiation documents, baseline delivery plan, complete with end-to-end project delivery activities, resourcing and inter-dependencies across projects, with associated stakeholder approvals required to start and initiate projects.
Identify, document, manage and mitigate risks and issues throughout the project life-cycle using Airwave’s RAID management tools.
Establish/enhance internal and external supplier relationships and ensure operational management of the same in relation to project delivery.
Lead and motivate the project delivery team throughout the project life-cycle, using a variety of mechanisms.
Establish, build and manage customer relationships.
Manage delivery of project outputs (products), ensuring progress in accordance with agreed plans and taking corrective actions where necessary.
Establish and manage the project controls; monitoring and reporting in accordance with stakeholder agreements.
Manage all project documents in accordance with Airwave policy and procedures.
Ensure that lessons learned and any associated actions for improvement are identified, reviewed and documented at appropriate points in the project life-cycle, in accordance with Airwave policy and procedures.
Basic Requirements
Please note this role is predominantly remote with some travel as per business needs.
Core Competencies:
Good understanding of the Airwave network communication devices and applications to produce project plans and be capable of challenging assumptions, striving for an optimal plan
To be able to act with a reasonable degree of autonomy and demonstrate basic commercial judgement
Good understanding of Engineering Design processes and Software Development Life Cycle
Risk management experience
Ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the often disparate members of the project teams
Stakeholder management (internally and externally) with the ability to engage effectively with people from any directorate/organisation up to, and including, a level comparable to the Senior Leadership Team
Understanding how projects and programme delivery contributes to the organisations strategic priorities
Ability to see the bigger picture; accounting for the business top-level priorities, finding ways of solving or pre-empting problems
Will be expected and required to bring a positive can-do attitude, exude energy and enthusiasm, able to tackle challenges and setbacks constructively, motivate the team to constantly do better and lead proactively
Technical Expertise (desirable):
Educated to GCSE/A levels/degree/professional level.
Project Management Qualification to Practitioner Level (or Foundation Level, working towards Practitioner) (Prince 2 / APM / Agile).
All aspects of project management – requirements capture, definition, selection of approach, planning, risk management, review, closure.
Demonstrable project management expertise with experience of having delivered projects from initiation to closure in technical environments. Strong desire and ability to develop skills further.
Excellent project planning skills using Microsoft Project, MS Office toolset efficiency (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), good knowledge of finances (capex, opex, budget), good knowledge of Project Online tool, SharePoint knowledge, Planview and overall Google ways of working (Gmail, Google drive, Google calendar, Google docs).
