About the Opportunity
Amentum are recruiting for a Project Manager to join our Engineering Development team, which has recently won several important projects and has a host of exciting new opportunities in nuclear fusion, new reactor development, nuclear decommissioning, operational reactor maintenance and support, remote engineering, and robotics.
We are regularly involved in delivering a variety of exciting bids and projects within a number of different industries and as such the ideal candidate needs to be someone with a good broad ranging technical background, who is used to taking the lead and has a demonstrable track record of contributing to projects effectively within a highly regulated environment. We are looking for candidates who can encourage and develop others in their team whilst accustomed to taking a hands-on approach.
This role will be a hybrid role, based from our Birchwood office in the North West of the UK but there will be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects required.
Key Responsibilities include\:
Lead and manage projects ranging from £100k-£2M, Be the direct interface with Clients, building strong relationships and a no surprises approach to communication. Ultimate responsibility for the delivery of projects on time, to cost and to the right level of quality. Ensures that the project communicates, reviews and reports progress on all Key Project Milestones Responsible for securing, assigning and maintaining a project delivery team containing all the resources required to successfully deliver the project. Ensure that project risks and opportunities are identified, mitigated and managed Responsible for the delivery of tenders as bid manager. Maintain regular involvement of and communications with the Project Sponsor. Experience of supervising and setting contractors/sub-contractors to work in their roles and experience in leading a project team. An understanding of project planning, including scope management, Breakdown Structures, estimating and scheduling An understanding of Project Control, including cost control, schedule adherence, risk management and change management Ability to understand and communicate effectively on project financial issues, margin, profit appraisals Ability to participate in and influence commercial decision making Ability to effectively form and lead project teams and motivate staff A proactive and adaptable approach suited to the diverse and challenging nature of the business An understanding of the legal, tendering and contract process to support the success of the business Strong understanding of the need for Quality within the project environment and familiarity with the use and structure of Quality Assurance documentation.
