The Department of Design and Construction, Executive Division seeks a Project Manager. The Project Manager for DDC acts as a conduit between DOB and DDC project teams, executives, and other Department staff. This model is based on DOB’s project advocacy program, which provides customer service liaisons to assist in understanding processes for approval and improve the efficiency of plan examination and inspections. project filing strategy, plan review, and permitting with the Department of Buildings (DOB). The Project Manager also provide critical technical assistance and decision support at various project stages interfacing with DOB to support timely approvals and provide constructive feedback on applications related to DDC projects. The Project Manager’s role is to serve as a liaison for the Department of Design and Construction (DDC), helping to navigate DOB filing pathways and code determination processes that ensure strict adherence to the NYC Construction Codes, Local Laws, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution; serve as the consistent customer service point of contact for DDC, providing clear information about status and requirements for projects, including but not limited to permit filings, plan reviews, Certificate of Occupancies (C of O) and inspections; provide DDC staff with assistance regarding interpretation of DOB code; assist in prioritizing and expediting DOB processing for critical DDC projects. In addition, the selected candidate will also develop and provide resources at project initiation to assist DDC in navigating the Buildings Department's review and approval process; conduct/attend meetings as requested by DDC with project teams to provide updates on project reviews, discuss active DDC portfolio and filing strategies; perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of DDC building plan, permit, and other DOB submissions to make recommendations for more efficient standard operating procedures, and training for agency staff to improve future submissions; and assist the agency in resolution of Stop Work Orders issued by Department of Buildings in conjunction with safety violations. Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. A Bachelor or a Master of Architecture degree that is the first professional degree in architecture from an accredited college; or 2. A Bachelor of Science degree in architecture that is the first four years of a five-year first professional degree program in architecture from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in architectural work; or 3. A valid New York State Registration as an Architect. The following are examples of four-year degrees that are NOT acceptable to meet the education requirement: Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology; Bachelor of Professional Studies in Architecture; Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts issued by the Architectural Department of a college; Bachelor of Science in Art and Design issued by the Architectural Department of a college. Note: A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for certain assignments. If required, this license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.
