Project Manager

Responsible for planning, supervising, organizing, and managing the Water /Wastewater Treatment Plants. Responsibilities include supervising the treatment plants lead and overseeing employees. Operates with independence in planning and carrying out day-to-day activities. Work is reviewed for effectiveness in managing treatment processes, following established procedures, conforming to federal and state laws, and problem resolution.

Duties and responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Supervise the treatment plant leadsTrain, or is responsible for training subordinatesPrepare the treatment plant annual budget and treatment plants annual reportConduct performance evaluationsRecommend hiring and terminations; take appropriate disciplinary actionPrepare treatment plants standard operating guidelinesAdminister safety requirements and work rulesRespond either orally or in writing to customer concernsDirect Water / Wastewater Treatment Division short- and long-term planningResponsible charge for the maintenance and operation of an activated sludge, secondary treatment, sewage treatment facility.Monitor the treatment operation for compliance with local, state and federal regulationsReview reports, operational data and laboratory results to verify plants performanceMake frequent inspections of plants operationsVerify the accuracy and completeness of all reports to regulatory agenciesVerify that preventive maintenance programs for buildings, equipment, piping and machinery occur on scheduleManage maintenance contractsPrepare, or direct consultants to prepare modifications or specifications for treatment plant improvementsMonitor laboratory quality control for operations and accreditation approvalOrder Chemicals for treatment plantsAttend Board / City council meetings as requestedAttend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policiesWork harmoniously with ESG employees and the public and comply with ESG policies

Qualifications

Engineering theory, procedures, and practices as it pertains to the design and construction of Water / Wastewater Treatment Plants.Self-Contained Automated Data Acquisition (SCADA) SystemsMust have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.Must be certified by the State Board of Examiners as a Certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Class II

Knowledge of:

Supervising, mentoring and coaching of employeesApplication of knowledge of all basic principles of hydraulics and the biological, chemical and physical principles of polluted influent to plantsCurrent Federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including procedures and reporting requirementsPrinciples, practices, standards and regulations used in the processing of wastewater treatment, biosolids handling and disposalEquipment, material and operation practices involved in the collection ofwastewaterSafety practices, procedures and equipment used

Skill in:

Supervising and training subordinate staffOperating standard business office equipmentOral and written communication

Ability to:

Plan, organize, supervise and inspect the work of the subordinate personnelDetermine long range needs for expansion and reconstructionPlan and organize work for the efficient accomplishment of defined objectives

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to in order to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.

Physical requirements

This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force regularly.

The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.

The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
