 SUMMARY

The Project Manager/Estimator position is a critical role for the company. This individual will be responsible for planning, directing, or coordinating activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. He or she will participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. This individual must have the ability to support field personnel in their relationships with other subcontractors and to resolve field problems as they arise. This individual maintains full financial responsibilities of the project and must understand construction financial and accounting practices. The Project Manage/Estimator is responsible for estimating and providing management with detailed pricing for the development of bid quotations and bid packages. He or she should have relevant experience in preparing cost estimates for construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining the price of product or service. He or she may specialize according to service performed or type of product manufactured.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

Estimate, prepare proposals, sell work, and maintain customer relationships. Review and expedite incoming and outgoing correspondences. Schedule and attend job meetings with subcontractors and clients. Choose and allocate field manpower needs. Supervise equipment and materials and expedite, when necessary, with Purchasing Department and Shop. Monitor job progress Prepare Schedules of Values for monthly requisitions and monitor the status of payments. Supervise take-offs and price changes with Estimating Department. Negotiate settlement of Change Order Requests with Client. Handle final project closeout. Prepare job cost projections

 

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum 7-10 years related experience in the Fire Protection industry. High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor of Science with an engineering or construction management focus preferred; Master’s in related field is a plus. Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation. Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel) Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs. Familiarity with project management/document control software. Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.
