The Project Coordinator is located in a healthcare facility downtown Toronto and typically reports directly to the Operations Manager.

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing facility and non-facility related projects and assisting with ad-hoc job scopes stemming from FMO contracts. As needed and as volume increases, the PM may also be responsible for overseeing a team of resources to further coordinate the planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluation of construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget. Emphasis is placed on scope development, reporting/monitoring progress, planning/scheduling, and dealing with project changes across FMO facilities. Reporting directly into the Facility Manager and Operations Manager, will act as the main point of contact in support of projects or assignments specifically serving Black & McDonald’s main FMO service contracts including, but not limited to the following duties:

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Liaise with and assist client’s Project Managers for specific project activitiesPlan and execute defined projects within agreed timelines and budgetsBuild and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationshipsPlan and prepare project schedules, milestones and monitor progress against established schedules and budgets correcting gaps or variances to minimize impact to project completionAssist with other Black and McDonald driven projects where appropriateManage Black and McDonald’s Life Cycle Planning Tool ensuring condition and status of all assets are assessed, updated frequently and accurate replacement costs are reflectedAssist in preparation of client’s annual Capital expenditure forecastingHire and supervise the activities of subcontractors with respect to Health, Safety and Environmental requirementsReview ongoing subcontractor activities and agreements to ensure risks are identified and controlled and deficiencies correctedOther duties as required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A university degree for electrical or mechanical disciplines an advantage or experience in a relevant tradeA College Diploma or related education with suitable hands-on experience over 5 to 10 years would be considered a minimum requirementA PMP designation considered an advantage

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the facilities management industry working with HVAC, electrical and mechanical systemsA minimum of 3 years Project Management experience and/or PMP designationExperience within a Healthcare environment considered an advantage

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Willingness to pursue a PMP designation if not already gained (fully compensated on successful completion)Flexibility required to work outside of normal business hours on an infrequent basis under normal circumstances to meet the above Duties and ResponsibilitiesAble to travel within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with own transport when required for training or other business activitiesSecurity clearance requirements: must be able to gain reliability or secret clearance along with a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector check
