POSITION SUMMARY:

Project Manager II (PM II) is a progressive position. The PM II manages the coordination and completion of Material Handling System (MHS) projects with increasing levels complexity, scope, and budget. The PM II assures all deliverables are on time, on budget, and within scope. The PM II works directly with Fortna associates, clients, supplier-partners, and other service providers in connection with project deliverables.

The PM II is responsible for developing, delivering, and leading discussions pertaining to reports for both Fortna management and client leadership. The PM II will rely on broad project management experiences and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while planning, leading, and directing the work of others.

The PM II will be provided greater latitude to deliver projects and will be expected to demonstrate a breadth of creativity commensurate with their experience. The role will have greater autonomy requiring the PM II to function with a higher level of independence. The role will require the PM II to demonstrate broad project and client leadership management skills, progressive proficiency in the development of associates and teams, and intermediate consultative skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Consistently practice and demonstrate through example an appropriate level of character and integrity in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.

• Apply broad understanding of supply chain concepts, processes, and trends in the design and implementation of solutions.

• Leverage progressive experience and knowledge to evaluate and compare material handling alternatives and technologies when supporting the design and implementation of solutions.

• Understand specific capabilities within supply chain applications and leverage broad knowledge to assist with design and implementation efforts.

• Utilize a broad understanding of Fortna project governance activities and Fortna project governance tools in the delivery of projects and management of project risks.

• Lead one or more external / internal project or work streams of intermediate size, scope, budget, and complexity.

• Leverage progressive consulting skills in support of problem resolution, helping assure client acceptance to agreed deliverables, provide critical support on approach and methods, and help with developing closed-loop communications for project stakeholders.

• Support the delivery of training.

• Support internal project teams in the development of tools, templates, and methodologies.

• Support the development of trade show material.

• Assist the sales team with preliminary schedules, sales calls, site reviews and installation plans for projects of moderate scope and complexity and generally inline with green field projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-6 years of experience and/or 6-8 years of work experience in one of the following disciplines: industrial, mechanical or civil engineering; industrial or construction management.


Knowledge / Skills / Competencies:

• Intermediate business acumen competencies, demonstrating general understanding and intermediate skills with demonstrated application.

• Can clearly assign responsibility for tasks and decisions. Sets clear objectives and measures. Monitors progress and results. Provides feedback to other to help them develop and complete tasks.

• Intermediate understanding of listening, verbal, and written communication competencies and skills with demonstrated intermediate application of skills.

• Broad understanding in the use of rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems and create effective solutions.

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to develop and manage project budgets and perform level of financial analysis to evaluate a project. Can meet with and discuss project financials with Project Accountants and has a clear understanding of project financial acumen.

• Advanced time management competencies, with progressive experience delivering projects of increased scope and complexity on-time and on-budget.

• Intermediate to advanced project management skills, demonstrated through requisite knowledge and

experience.

• Intermediate presentation development and delivery skills.

• Intermediate client management and project leadership skills demonstrated through broad consultative experience and knowledge.

• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Awareness and basic understanding of Microsoft Project.

• Travel: Ability to travel nationally and internationally

• General: Has required skills and knowledge to perform role and responsibilities

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degree

Project Management Professional certification

WORKING CONDITIONS:

When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. Associates are frequently required to walk and stand. The noise level in this work environment is usually quiet. When traveling to Client sites, essential requirements of this position may require physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive.

Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.

The base salary range for this role is $87,600 to $131,300.  This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
