Burns McDonnell, an industry-leading employee-owned engineering, consulting, and construction company, has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager in an Owner’s Engineer Role to assist us to continue to develop and expand our depth of bench in providing owners engineering services to power clients in the locations noted. The Project Manager will be responsible for business development, proposal efforts, and execution of projects. Our experience covers the full breadth of power generation technologies — from gas turbines to solar, batteries, hydrogen, carbon capture and nuclear plant services
The Project Manager will lead projects in a dynamic and customer-oriented manner based on Burns McDonnell's core values of safety, client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, and overall outstanding service. The Project Manager will be responsible for fostering a culture of proactive communication, continuous improvement, and a focus on serving our customers and increasing our customer base. This individual should be experienced in design, construction, commissioning, diagnosis, testing, and troubleshooting of renewable energy projects including engineered equipment and balance of plant.
The Project Manager will be accountable to lead project teams to develop and deliver projects to make our clients successful. The project scope will range from project development, due diligence of existing project developments, RFP development, bid phase support, design reviews, and performance testing support. In addition, this individual will be expected to interface and communicate with customers and key stakeholders on a regular basis. Visits to sites, customers’ facilities, suppliers, and other miscellaneous travel to facilitate business growth is expected.
Responsibilities include:
Leading proposal efforts for Owner’sengineering servicesproposals.Developing scope, schedule, and budget for proposal efforts; negotiating refinements to scope, schedule, and budget with client upon award. Coordinating, as necessary, with permitting authorities, customers, and design leads to drive a customer solution within the required project standards. Coordinating a multi-disciplined engineering team to complete required tasks. Setting andmaintainingproject schedule. Monitoring and managing team to meet project deadlines Setting andmaintainingproject budgets. Requesting and developing Change Order documents asrequired. Serving as the primary interface between client and technical team. Must have the ability to multi-task among several projects at one time. Efficiently coordinating with discipline leads to drive site plans, racking plans, building plans, one-line drawings, BOP plans, substation plans, and other conceptual engineering documents and deliverables as required by the project scope. Managing approved bidders list, preparing requests for proposal, managing bid tabulation, and driving total installed cost evaluation of procurements. Providing streamlined project information and detailed bill of material to estimating. Driving efficiency in bid efforts. Effectivelyutilizingsoftware and implementing practices and tools to improvethe conceptualdesign and estimating efficiencies. Maintaining current knowledge of emerging solar technologies including pricing, and prevailing commercial information (delivery, major terms, etc.). Participating in industry conferences and publications to further expand Burns McDonnell’s presence in the renewable energy market, including the development of white papers and presentations at conferences. Conduct project status meetings with clients asrequired. Travel to client offices/project sites asrequired. Other duties as assigned.
