The Project Manager will be in charge of planning and executing various projects for Clients in Alaska. Typical projects are related to community infrastructure improvements and they include planning, design and construction activities.
ResponsibilitiesSummary
Project Manager will be responsible for the overall development of planning and design documents, bidding services and administration of construction contracts for capital improvement projects. Typical projects include rural community infrastructure (roads, landfills, water & sewer systems, fuel systems, etc.) with construction costs ranging from $10M – $50M.
Essential Functions
Work with Client to identify desired goals, scope of work, permitting, budget, schedule, and concerns to be addressed in a new project.Assist with preparation of proposals, including identification of resource requirements.Review contracts and provide recommendations for modifications/acceptance.Establish/manage Sub-Consultant contracts.Manage multi-discipline professional teams (Engineers, Architects, Surveyors).Manage project team to meet schedule deadlines.Coordinate permitting process for project.Provide competitive bidding, or negation, services for selection of construction Contractor.Administer construction contract, providing review and recommendations for pay requests, coordinate reviews of submittals, substitutions, Change Order Requests, DCVR’s, etc.Conduct/coordinate periodic site inspections, including Substantial Completion, Final and Warranty inspections as required.Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.Manage project budget.Manage project resource allocations.Provide Quality assurance.Review project invoices to Client.Monitor and report on progress of project to appropriate parties.Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.Perform as Clients Representative.Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Solid understanding of standard construction methods.Able to interpret engineering, architectural, other constructions drawings, and specifications.Good understanding of construction contracting.Good understanding of rural Alaska construction issues.Excellent attention to details, planning and organizational skills.Out-going nature, interested in developing relationships with Clients.Computer literate with understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling programs. Able to complete project financial projections and interpret project costs is essential.Able to be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. QualificationsRequired Experience:
10 years of experience as Project Manager working on construction projects.Experience working on construction projects in rural Alaska.Knowledge of construction materials and practices.Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to read text on a computer screen and in hard copy, stand or sit, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to enter information into computers via a keyboard or other peripheral device. Exposure to moderate levels of noise in a well-lit, well-ventilated and moderately paced environment. Continuously required to sit, hear and/or respond to verbal/audio cues, perform repetitive motions of hands and wrists, and read computer screen. Occasionally required to stand or walk. Rarely required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, bend, or reach with hands and arms. Rarely required to push, pull and/or carry objects up to 10 pounds.Environmental Conditions:
The work environment is that of a typical office setting.In a large building in an urban setting.May occasionally be on a construction site.May occasionally travel to rural areas.Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, or similar.Experience working on North Slope Borough Projects.Authorized Driver Requirement: Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year clean driving record. Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.
All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.
If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
