Job Description
The Project Controls / Scheduler will be responsible for maintaining the electrical scope of a schedule in Primavera P6 for a large industrial power plant project. This role involves working under the General Contractor's Master Schedule for converting an existing coal-powered plant to liquid natural gas.
ResponsibilitiesCollect, input, and analyze schedule information quickly and reliably.Generate forecasts, variance reports, and other documentation used to monitor and manage projects.Research and report on various external and internal factors that may impact project success.Evaluate current processes and recommend changes to improve efficiency in scheduling projects.Report schedule variances and concerns to project managers and the Director of Project Controls.Attend and/or establish department planning meetings with stakeholders throughout the company to build relationships and ensure proper schedule inputs.Familiarize with engineering, construction, and procurement processes to provide helpful inputs, feedback, and review of schedule durations and logic.Proactively seek schedule and risk information that may impact the project timeline.Essential SkillsExperience with Primavera P6.Knowledge in construction, cost control, cost analysis, and project scheduling.Experience in project controls, especially in an industrial setting.Ability to maintain electrical scope of the schedule on industrial projects.Strong analytical skills to collect and analyze schedule information.Ability to generate forecasts and variance reports.Additional Skills & QualificationsIntermediate to expert level experience in Primavera P6.Experience with electrical scope in industrial projects.Knowledge of project controls duties on various types of projects (industrial, solar, commercial).Ability to teach others how to utilize project scheduling tools.Experience with the conversion of coal-powered plants to natural gas is a plus.Work Environment
The role is with an electrical contractor consisting of 500 union employees and 100 non-union office employees. Onsite personnel will include over 50 union electricians, and the candidate will work from a job trailer alongside the Site PM and Superintendent. The work will be a mix of time spent within the plant and the job trailer, with 20% of the time dedicated to the schedule and the remaining time focused on other project controls functions. This is a long-term project with a reputable contractor, adhering to established policies and procedures.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
