Project Scheduler Staff
Job Summary: Technical SME for project scheduling within the department and will be responsible for supporting and providing guidance of the development and analysis of project schedule deliverables. This includes the development and analysis of a wide range of scope of work types especially complex schedules using the assigned system. Train schedulers and planners so they are technically able to plan schedule integrate baseline and analyze scopes of work. When applicable administer security reporting maintenance and daily operation of systems and software. Must be self-motivated an excellent communicator and team focused individual able to demonstrate expert competency in scheduling techniques and analyses on all scope of work aspects. Additional duties include developing and implementing scope of work schedule/status reports and providing consistent accurate information to the senior management team. Must be able to interface with site execution teams contractors and AEP senior management. Essential Job Functions Tasks: 1. Define activities duration work sequences and relationship logic to develop implement the scope of work plan and develop milestones to represent key decisions and deliverables that take place during execution. Ensure all logic and activities support the level of detail required by the customer and meet internal department standards and guidance. Ensure all scope and deliverables are accounted for. 2. Provide input and guidance to schedulers in the development of fully integrated system schedules including resource loading and leveling for schedules that utilize critical path methodology based on work scope from the work packages and planners work list. 3. Responsible for the development of junior schedulers in organizing schedule review meetings with all stakeholders and incorporating appropriate details. 4. Engage team and stakeholders to create schedules and provide schedule analysis updates to team alerting them to schedule risks and issues that could delay milestones. Communicate schedule status to project stakeholders. 5. Direct and guide the administration of the AEP project management organizational standards and assist in the management of projects to those standards. Adhere to the guidance and standards put forth by the AEP Project Management Governance Committee. 6. Administer and/or oversee the administration of security profiles and roles for new users within the scheduling system. 7. Ensure schedulers are using sound techniques and best practices to update progress acquire information baseline schedules maintain schedules develop commodity curves track metrics and support teams on a routine basis. 8. Diagnose and resolve issues with scope of work schedules. 9. Responsible for the development of junior level schedulers on the following: preparing and analyzing metric reports preparing and analyzing schedule risk developing what-if schedules to address various scenarios and options as necessary crashing scope of work schedule durations following processes and handbook procedures and all aspects of scheduling within the assigned systems and software. 10. Ensure consistent application of earned value management reporting across the department. Perform/coordinate schedule and cost integration including SPI/CPI and setup/maintenance of associated data systems and processes on a scope of work basis. 11. Work with the project teams to provide risk assessments and recommended mitigation actions as requested. 12. Diagnose and resolve issues with project schedules. 13. Own the project schedule standard work processes leading the development review and implementation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Basic Qualifications: With a qualified Bachelor's degree eight 8 years' qualified experience required with a qualified Associate's degree ten 10 years' qualified experience. Qualified degrees must be in a related field from an accredited university or college and could include Accounting Business Construction Management Engineering Technology or Project Management. Scheduling experience in Transmission Substation Construction or Engineering preferred. Qualified experience includes utility specific operations knowledge/experience with a good working knowledge of work processes and procedures. Experience should be in design operations planning project management cost tracking analysis forecasting project budgets working with accounting principles and/or construction or maintenance of systems and/or equipment. A professional or trade certification such as a CCMP CETa IQCP PMP RMP etc. is required for candidates possessing a non-qualified higher education degree. Otherwise a certification is preferred but not required. Additional Requirements: Project Scheduler Staff is not part of typical career progression and will be filled based on business unit needs. 1. Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively and efficiently show capacity for organizational and planning skills as well as having an aptitude for accuracy attention to detail and ability to achieve goals. 2. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 3. Team player with ability to work and collaborate well with others. 4. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ability to develop complex spreadsheets. 5. Must be a self-motivated individual and able to work under general supervision be independent and competently perform current scheduling techniques and analyses on all scope of work project aspects. 6. Safely and effectively perform light physical duties at various work sites including home and AEP locations in varying conditions. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $57.32 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
