Project Scientist

Applications are sought for a full-time Project Scientist position, with a focus on field genomics and ecological research. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team in the laboratory of Dr. Amy Goldberg in the UCLA Department of Human Genetics. The focus of the Goldberg Lab is the evolutionary and population genetics of humans, nonhuman primates, and infectious disease.

The Goldberg lab combines computational genomic analysis with field collections to study adaptation, behavior, and disease dynamics in humans and other primates. Experience leading sample collection for humans or non-human primates genomic data is required. The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing projects in population genetics and primate disease ecology, will be motivated to develop and implement a variety of cutting-edge computational techniques to analyze collected data, and will be excited to work with and develop teams within the lab. Projects may include but are not limited to genetic studies of primate phylogeography and hybridization, inference of adaptation to infectious diseases, and modeling primate and pathogen evolutionary histories.

A successful candidate(s) will have the following qualifications:
• PhD in a Biological Discipline
• Ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment
• Desire to conduct evolutionary and population genetic research
• Experience leading sample collection for humans or non-human primates genomic data

To apply please upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and provide names and contact information for 2 references. Start date is flexible.
