Position description Applications are sought for a full-time Project Scientist position, with a focus on computational research. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team in the laboratory of Dr. Amy Goldberg in the UCLA Department of Human Genetics. The focus of the Goldberg Lab is the evolutionary and population genetics of humans, nonhuman primates, and infectious disease. The Goldberg lab combines theory and computational data analysis; interest in biological applications of programming, statistics, and/or mathematics is required. The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing computational projects in population genetics, will be motivated to develop and implement a variety of cutting-edge computational techniques, and will be excited to work with and develop teams within the lab. The role includes mentorship of junior lab members and leadership of computational infrastructure within the lab. Projects may include but are not limited to theoretical and empirical studies of human admixture, inference of adaptation to infectious diseases, and modeling primate and pathogen evolutionary histories. A successful candidate(s) will have the following qualifications: • PhD in a Biological or Computational Discipline • Ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment • Desire to conduct evolutionary and population genetic research • Motivation to become proficient in computational approaches and infrastructure (if not already competent in these areas) To apply please upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and provide names and contact information for 2 references.
