Tetra Tech is looking for a Project Engineer/Scientist to manage/support environmental investigation/remediation projects and proposals. The position will work on various projects managed out of our Santa Barbara office (combination office and home office) and will provide support to our environmental consulting services for projects throughout Southern California and beyond. The projects include small and large remedial investigations primarily focused on the characterization of soil and groundwater impacts resulting from past operations and waste disposal practices. The position will require data interpretation and technical report writing for various environmental investigations and groundwater monitoring programs for private, local government, and Department of Defense (DoD) clients; supporting proposal preparation; and directing and managing the fieldwork for environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring, and remediation projects.

Your Role:
The selected candidate will perform a range of tasks, requiring utilization of scientific, engineering, or geologic analytical techniques and task level budget and schedule management. Primary responsibility will be supporting Senior Project Managers in managing small projects and tasks for existing clients and managing field investigations including but not limited to soil and soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, borehole drilling, and well installations. Prepare, or support the preparation of work plans, sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation reports, groundwater monitoring plans and reports, Phase I and Phase II ESAs, and similar activities. Preparation of all plans and reports will be under the guidance of a Senior or Principal Geologist/Engineer/Scientist. Support Senior Project Managers in proposal preparation. The position will require environmental field work such as drilling, soil, soil gas and groundwater sampling, data collection and preparation of field documentation (e.g., field notes, laboratory Chain of Custodies). Some travel will be required.Qualifications:
Successful candidate must have a college degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, biology, environmental science, or similar technical field and at least 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or related industries. The following types of experience are significantly favored:• Experience with geologic, engineering, scientific, or general environmental projects and data interpretation.
• Field experience including subsurface soil, soil gas and groundwater sampling, drilling and well installation for hazardous waste site characterization, aquifer testing, remedial system installation, and system O&M.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
