**Position Description:**
Provides professional, highly technical expertise in the application of engineering principles, techniques and methods.

**Major/Essential Functions:**
PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Develop scope and estimate for identified research construction projects. Manage the resources (including outside engineers, architects, and contractors) of all assigned research projects to achieve project objectives and meet customer expectations, including the development of scope, estimate, and regular on-site inspections and monitoring of assigned construction.
ENGINEERING ANALYSIS: Perform analysis of assigned building systems, including facility audits, and creates reports detailing findings with recommendations for improvement in accordance with laws, codes and policies.
ENGINEERING DESIGN AND REVIEW: Performing minor drafting, engineering design, and review of research construction documents for assigned minor repair, renovation, and retrofit projects.
TECHNICAL SPECIALIST: Provide engineering expertise to other departments as needed to assist in maintenance, repair or troubleshooting.
FACILITY AUDITS: Assist in conducting facility audits and preparing written reports detailing findings and recommendations.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Licensed Electrical or Mechanical Engineer.
+ Extensive technical knowledge and experience of engineering principles, techniques and methods.
+ Thorough understanding of mechanical systems and equipment, environmental controls, energy management equipment, logic systems, and related areas of work.

**Required Qualifications:**
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; five years specifically related experience. An advanced degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
