Summary

The Economic Growth Institute (EGI), reports to the Office of the Vice President for Government Relations. EGI works to leverage the University of Michigan and other public/private resources, research, technologies, and expertise to foster innovation and equitable economic growth. EGI transforms these resources into programs that provide business and communities? assistance, support, and intervention.

EGI is seeking a research project senior manager. This individual, under the direction of the executive director, will advance research projects as assigned and support in building on a body of knowledge in equitable economic growth for the EGI. The research project senior manager will direct a study on equity and inclusion of economic and workforce development programs. This position will manage and mentor student graduate and undergraduate Research Associates in the development and execution of associated projects. Additionally, the research senior project manager is responsible for cross-functional project leadership and overall success of deliverables and Institute-wide projects as assigned. This position is responsible for proper fiscal and programmatic compliance.

Term-Limited Appointment: 24 months at 50% appointment; with possibility of continued funding for additional years.

This position will heavily be remote based with travel across Michigan as needed and occasional travel nationally; additionally, EGI hosts quarterly meetings in-person meetings in Ann Arbor.

Responsibilities*

 

Research Project Management

Develops and refines quantitative methodologies to fit equity-driven research projectsWorks in collaboration with other EGI departments to provide relevant research, data and analysisGathers data; performs data analysis and interprets resultsAuthors publications and presentationsDevelop protocols and ensures compliance with IRBWorks collaboratively with EGI partners and U-M facultyAssists in acquiring research funding

 

Research Associate Management 

Supervise and direct student research associates in associated projects

Required Qualifications*

A Masters degree in social science, with 5 - 6 years of related experience in research.Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion theories and applicationsKnowledge of workforce and economic development programsSkilled in presenting research in plain language to diverse audiencesAdvanced skills in writing reports for broad audiencesAdvanced skills in qualitative researchProven level of maturity, excellent people skills and ability to function in a collaborative atmosphere with limited supervision.Established experience defining priorities, working through conflicts and identifying creative solutionsAdvanced qualitative coding software and Google Suite knowledge. Proficient business and academic writing skills. Excellent communication skills: follows verbal direction; ability to ask clarifying questionsExperience with IRB process

Desired Qualifications*

      Experience in InDesign, Illustrator, and Canva      Doctoral degree in related field
