The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of bilingual (English/Korean), dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented individual is needed to join a research team at the University of Southern California to participate in a new research study called the “Koreans Act against Cancer and Tobacco (K-ACT)”. The study is investigating the roles of tobacco use and Helicobacter infection in gastric cancer prevention among Korean American families.
Employment involves (1) establishing and maintaining contact with community partners; (2) assisting in development of study design and study materials; (3) conducting participant recruitment and interviews in English and Korean collecting biological specimens from participants; (4) running basic laboratory equipment assessing Helicobacter infection; (5) entering data into databases; (6) conducting basic statistical analyses to summarize study progress and results; (7) providing project support to the research study and the study staff personnel and faculty investigators; (8) supervise student research assistants and student workers to conduct research activities. Excellent Korean writing and speaking skills are required . The ideal candidate will have strong organizational capabilities, superb problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks. Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends may be needed. Prior experience in a research environment is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is preferred.
The hourly rate range for this position is $29.40 - $36.92.
