POSITION OVERVIEW

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides general administrative, drafting and research in support of parcel review and preparation. Performs survey drafting, design and plotting. Provides technical support and expertise to agencies, contractors, and technical consultants to resolve concerns and inquiries. Prepares and maintains various reports, indexes, records and files in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint. Researches and collects data from various departments and other sources. May conduct field investigations and special projects. Operates AutoCAD, GIS and coordinate geometry software in performance of reviews and creating drawings.
Assists technical personnel in locating project plans and rights-of-ways. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Associate's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Designing or a closely related field such as Surveying or GIS .
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of related experience, such as surveying, GIS, engineering, drafting and/or designing, are required.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Substitution: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design or a closely related field such as Surveying or GIS may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to applicants with previous experience reviewing property surveys and legal descriptions. Ideal candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
