Projects Officer, International Research

Position Summary
The Projects Officer, International Research, is responsible for managing proposal submissions and non-financial post-award activities for a portfolio of sponsored projects related to international research, including those at NYU’s Abu Dhabi and Shanghai campuses. This role involves assisting faculty and administrators in developing and submitting proposals, as well as managing awards for research projects in global network areas. The officer also supports the Assistant Director, International Research Administration, in managing the Advisors on Foreign Activities and Research (AFAR) program, which assesses risk and creates strategies to mitigate it for NYU’s global research initiatives. The position includes reporting on NYU’s foreign funding, including compliance with Section 117 of the Higher Education Act and the NSF Foreign Financial Disclosure Report, in collaboration with other university units.
Qualifications
Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's DegreeRequired Experience:5+ years Progressive experience with research and sponsored projects administration and compliance in an academic settingPreferred Experience:5+ years Relevant experience with pre-award research administration or an equivalent combination. Must include review, advisement on and editing of proposals for externally sponsored research and preparing budgetsRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong understanding of research compliance and the ability to navigate a complex university environment. Familiarity with research administration systems like Cayuse SP and Cayuse 424. Knowledge of federal regulatory requirements, including conflict of interest, export controls, and research involving animals, human subjects, and biohazardous materials. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and collaborate in a team-oriented environment. Adaptable and capable of managing change, with a focus on contributing to the growth of the organization.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Possesses knowledge of, and experience with, international, federal and state laws, and government regulations as applied to international engagement and the ability to apply that knowledge to new, emergent situations and priorities. Familiarity with federal regulatory compliance requirements and submission of proposals using electronic research sources. Ability to work well independently or collaboratively in a dynamic, deadline driven environment. Committed to understanding international cultural norms and customs to support and promote openness and diversity in NYU research activities. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $95,000.00 to USD $115,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
