Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a meticulous PART TIME Proofreader in Davenport, Iowa. Your role will primarily involve the examination of appraisal reports for grammatical accuracy and conformity with an evolving style guide. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and refinement of the official style guide. Responsibilities: • Scrutinizing appraisal reports ranging from 30 to 100 pages to ensure grammatical correctness and punctuation precision • Checking specific sections of the reports that include grids necessitating mathematical verification • Ensuring the appraisal reports align with the developing style guide • Participating in the ongoing creation and refinement of the official style guide • Overlooking boilerplate pieces and definitions in the reports, as these sections do not require your attention • Utilizing skills such as AP Style, Mistake Proofing, Proofreading, and Style Guides to effectively carry out your duties. Requirements • Possess at least 1 year of experience in a proofreading role or similar • Demonstrated proficiency in AP Style • Proven skills in mistake proofing and error detection • Proficient in proofreading and editing documents • Familiarity with using style guides in proofreading tasks • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken • Ability to work under strict deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Must have critical thinking skills and the ability to problem-solve • Strong communication skills, able to provide clear feedback and suggestions.
