Property Accountant

Description We are looking for a Property Accountant to join our team in Independence, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing financial transactions, reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts, and handling lease administration duties. This role provides an opportunity to work in the real estate industry and contribute to the financial health and growth of our business.
Responsibilities:
• Review and prepare AP/AR reports to ensure accuracy
• Conduct bank reconciliations for financial transparency and accuracy
• Analyze the general ledger for accuracy and reasonableness, making necessary adjustments
• Manage lease setup and ensure that security deposits and leasing cost amortization are set up correctly
• Perform lease administration duties, including commercial billing and lease abstracts
• Coordinate with the accounting team for the month-end process, ensuring accurate and timely completion
• Reconcile key balance sheet accounts to maintain financial accuracy
• Utilize property accounting skills to monitor and manage real estate accounting functions
• Utilize Yardi/Voyager software for efficient property accounting management
• Conduct accrual accounting and month-end close activities for accurate financial reporting. Requirements
• Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of property accounting
• Demonstrated proficiency in accounting functions
• Proficiency in accrual accounting is required
• Familiarity with Yardi software is essential
• Expertise in CAM reconciliation is required
• Experience with month-end close procedures is necessary
• Demonstrated knowledge of real estate accounting is desirable
• Proficiency in property accounting is a must
• Demonstrated experience in bank reconciliations is required
• Experience in handling accounts payable (AP) is necessary
• Experience in managing accounts receivable (AR) is required
• Must be able to work in a team and independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are necessary
• Knowledge of standard accounting principles and regulations is required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required
• Professional certification such as CPA is desirable
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is necessary.
