Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Property Accountant in Crofton, Maryland. In this role, you will be actively involved in the financial aspect of property management, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of financial packages, maintaining cash balances, and resolving any related issues. Responsibilities: • Ensure the timely and precise preparation of financial statement packages, which includes creating and posting journal entries, and reviewing the general ledger. • Maintain a regular check on cash balances and manage any discrepancies. • Address and document all responses to review comments generated. • Conduct a thorough review of financial statement variances and document explanations for significant items. • Calculate management fees accurately and ensure that related invoices are settled promptly. • Perform inter-project account reconciliations every two weeks and address any open issues. • Keep track of all debt, real estate tax, sales tax, and owner distribution payments to ensure they are made in a timely manner and internal schedules are maintained. • Confirm the completion of bank reconciliation and resolve any reconciling items without delay. • Adhere to internal accounting policies and procedures. • Ensure that budget information is correctly input into the management system. • Handle client audit requests as needed. • Assist in the setup and transitions of properties, which may include loading beginning balance information, sale pro-ration calculations, and closing entries. Requirements • Proficiency in Account Coding is essential for this role. • Comprehensive understanding and experience with Accrual Accounting is required. • Prior experience in Auditing is necessary. • Familiarity with Yardi software is a significant advantage. • Knowledge in managing Sales Tax is crucial. • Expertise in GAAP Accounting is a key requirement. • Proficiency in handling General Ledger tasks is needed. • Experience in Account Reconciliation is necessary. • Skill in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation is essential. • Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations is a significant plus.
