How it’s going (and growing)
With a talented team of 600+ Roofsters, our collaborative, can-do culture is what fuels our growth. In 2022, we closed on our Series E, raising $240 million, and have offices in California, Texas, and New York as well as many remote opportunities. Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors).
About the Role:
The Property Accountant will provide full cycle accounting support for the property management team, and function as a key member of the team. This role is responsible for communicating financial results to both external clients and management teams. The skills required to succeed in this role include strong accounting, collaboration, and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Provide daily accounting functions for multiple regions Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports – prepare monthly journal entries, financial statement preparation/reconciliation and bank reconciliations. Prepare monthly and ad hoc distributions to clients Review and maintain accuracy of general ledgers G/L activity posting, Balance Sheet reconciliation and maintenance of subsidiary ledgers Support Property Accounting Managers with ad hoc projects, monthly closes and distributions Monitor cash receipt postings, tenant billings, billing adjustments and perform tenant ledger reconciliations when necessary Review invoice coding and invoice workflow to ensure timely payments to vendors Coordinate with various departments to ensure accounting accuracy Ability to independently research historical cash transactions and provide Portfolio Managers and Regional Directors with timely responses Provide accounting detail and assistance to Property Accounting Managers for all internal and/or external auditors Research new accounting laws and regulations for different states as needed Performs ad hoc assignments as neededQualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred, or equivalent experience 3-7 years total progressive accounting experience, with 3+ years of real estate-specific accounting experience required Property management experience is a plus Proficiency using Excel and Google Suite products High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Planning and Organizing – ability to establish a course of action to accomplish goals and evaluate results. Ability to multitask - work successfully under pressure and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload to meet client needs. This position is classified as REMOTE within the United States. Preference for candidates based in Oakland, CA, NYC, NY, or a Roofstock hub (with the ability to work HYBRID, being in-office on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly)Compensation:
$70,000 - $80,000 annual salary. The compensation range may be adjusted based on experience and location.
Our compensation reflects several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay it will be based on several factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and other job related factors. Roofstock is a total compensation company; the base salary is only part of our total compensation package.
