Property Accountant – Real Estate, Location: Garden City, NY
Anna Parson at Robert Half is seeking a smart, highly organized and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join a Real Estate client. As the Property Accountant, you will track, record, reconcile and forecast AP and cash transactions for your own portfolio of properties. As the Property Accountant, you will:
+ Process full-cycle automated accounts payable transactions, ensuring accurate coding, payment processing, and vendor relationships.
+ Perform bank reconciliations on a routine basis, identifying and resolving discrepancies quickly.
+ Handle cash management and cash flow forecasting, monitoring balances to ensure alignment with funding needs and company goals.
+ Accurately maintain and report on escrow tracking, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
+ Prepare expense reports and perform detailed analysis to identify trends and areas for cost optimization.
+ Assist the CFO in preparing management reporting packages and assist in budgeting for your properties.
+ Support month-end close processes, journal entries, and ad-hoc financial reporting projects.
+ Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support seamless collaboration.

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
+ A minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within the real estate or property management industry.
+ Strong experience with full-cycle accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
+ Expertise in cash management and cash flow forecasting, as well as working knowledge of escrow accounting processes.
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas) required.
+ Experience with property management software such as Yardi or MRI is highly preferred.
+ Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
