Property Accountant/ Development Accountant
Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity in the construction/contractor industry in Long Beach, California. The role is for a Property Accountant/ Development Accountant. In this role, you will closely collaborate with the Housing Development department to ensure projects adhere to their budget constraints. Responsibilities: • Compile and scrutinize all draw packages for completeness and monitor their submission to lenders. • Prepare job cost reports and ensure their accuracy. • Collaborate with the Accounting team to formulate policies and procedures for development accounting. • Review financials against the budget and liaise with Project Managers to ensure projects stay within their budgets. • Oversee invoice processing, enter payables, and apply them to the contract. • Coordinate pre-development and construction phases through to stabilized property. • Facilitate year-end audits/compilations and cost certifications. • Generate reports using Yardi software. • Perform additional duties as assigned. • Utilize your knowledge of development and job cost practices for the preparation of draw packages. • Employ your strong analytical skills to deal with financial data and budgets. • Exhibit superior writing and communication skills in your interactions. • Show proficiency in the use of personal computers and related software applications. • Exhibit a strong attention to detail in all your tasks. • Analyze and monitor budgets regularly. • Provide feedback to Project Managers on development project financial status. • Set priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the Construction/Contractor industry • Proficiency in account coding and accounting functions • Familiarity with accounting software systems • Experience with ADP - Financial Services • Demonstrated ability in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Knowledge of accrual accounting • Experience in auditing processes • Proficiency in Yardi Property Management, Yardi Software, and Yardi systems • Experience with year end closings, year-end audits, year-end close, year-end financial statements, and year-end reporting • Proven ability in job cost management • Experience in preparing annual budget and annual operating budget • Knowledge of approved budgets and budget administration Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
