Property Controller – Pine Canyon
General Purpose:
The Property Controller serves as a strategic financial leader, proactively analyzing financial data to anticipate trends, identify opportunities, and provide insights that support data-driven decision-making across all departments. This role collaborates closely with department heads, ensuring they have timely, accurate, and actionable financial information to optimize operations, control costs, track capital projects, and drive revenue growth. The Property Controller is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the financial, accounting, administrative, and light human resources activities of the facility.
Essential Duties:
Strategic Financial Leadership: Acts as a financial strategic partner to department heads, anticipating their needs and proactively delivering insights for data-driven decision-making. Develops and implements financial strategies that align with the club’s operational goals and long-term vision. Provides trend analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling to support business initiatives. Accounting & Financial Planning: Implements and adheres to financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards. Oversees accounting and administrative controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks, including fraud prevention. Assists the General Manager in preparing and monitoring the annual budget, tracking revenue goals, and generating financial forecasts. Monitors property performance, including revenue projections, cost analysis, net income, cash flow, and capital planning. Prepares and delivers clear, concise financial reports with actionable insights for department heads. Conducts financial performance reviews for each department, identifying areas for improvement and revenue enhancement. Capital Budgeting & Project Tracking: Develops and manages the Capital Budget, ensuring alignment with long-term financial goals. Tracks capital expenditures and ensures they remain within budget while maximizing return on investment. Works with department heads and project managers to monitor the progress of capital projects, ensuring financial transparency and accountability. Provides monthly capital project status reports, including budget vs. actual spending, cash flow impact, and expected completion timelines. Identifies potential risks in capital projects and recommends adjustments to maintain financial targets. Ensures all capital expenditures adhere to approval processes and proper financial controls. Financial Operations & Controls: Manages cash flow to ensure financial stability and optimal vendor payment timing. Oversees accounts receivable and payable, including invoice processing, payments, collections, and reconciliations. Reconciles and audits petty cash, bank accounts, and department cash banks. Coordinates year-end closing procedures with the Regional Controller. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Data-Driven Decision Support: Collaborates with department heads to interpret financial data, identify trends, and optimize business strategies. Develops key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial and operational success. Implements reporting systems that provide real-time financial insights to guide daily operations and long-term planning. Uses predictive analytics to anticipate financial challenges and opportunities before they arise.Human Resources & Administrative Duties:
Works with department heads on workforce planning, payroll budgeting, and compensation analysis. Supports the tracking of employee PTO accruals and payroll accuracy. Ensures compliance with labor laws related to financial reporting. Maintains confidential payroll and personnel records in compliance with company policies.Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages department members, including but not limited to the Property Accountant. Provides training, assigns tasks, evaluates performance, and ensures professional development of direct reports.Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four to ten years of relevant experience, preferably in the hospitality industry. Experience with capital budgeting, financial analytics, forecasting, and data-driven decision support is highly desirable. Proficiency with Jonas POS/Accounting software is a plus.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights. Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and KPI development. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to deliver financial insights to non-financial managers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel for data analysis.Physical Demands & Work Environment:
