Job Description:

Chubb is currently seeking a Property SIU Investigator to join our team working in the areas of Westchester, NY and NY City . This individual will work to build relationships with insureds, claims staff, defense counsel, and producers in the New York region.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Property SIU Investigator is responsible for investigating first party property claims of a questionable nature with potential arson or fraud related concerns.  The position will be responsible for the efficient and consistent delivery of service to our customers and business partners that meets or exceeds Chubb's standards and complies with all applicable statutes and regulations. The SIU Investigator will be expected to develop highly detailed background information and conduct comprehensive investigations on questionable claim scenarios that will lead to a coverage determination arising out of first party property claim submissions. The Property SIU Investigator will also be expected to interact and communicate with various claims and underwriting partners as well as legal counsel, local, state and federal law enforcement, and other regulatory agencies.

COMPETENCIES/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Property SIU investigator with an insurance carrier.  A combination of carrier and other law enforcement agency, at a detective/ criminal investigator level will be considered. Candidates must have knowledge of insurance contracts, investigative techniques, legal requirements, and state insurance regulations. Candidates should also be familiar with insurance fraud statutes, and must have the ability to work with and communicate with a wide spectrum of people, develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customers. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel is needed.  Utilize tools such as ISO, Accurint, and TLO to obtain background information on all individual parties and businesses involved in a claim.

The candidate must be detail oriented, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be customer service oriented and possess an understanding of Personal and Commercial lines insurance contracts. Excellent time management skills is critical to this position. 

Daily Activities:

Uses knowledge, skills and experience to review and investigate suspicious first party claims. Works with SIU and Claims Management to develop and present anti-fraud recognition and awareness training to Claims partners across the Property Claims Organization.Uses understanding of the P&C industry and investigative skills to conduct timely, thorough, fair and impartial investigations on all referred claims.Understands state laws and complies with all state and local statues.  Builds relationships within the SIU community and with regulatory agencies charged with combating insurance fraud. Uses available resources to conduct background checks on referred claims and conducts in-person interviews or video interviews as needed and directed by SIU Management. Prepares comprehensive investigative reports documenting field investigations and presents the results of the investigation to SIU and Claims Management when requested.Works closely with SIU counsel and attends Examinations Under Oath (EUO’s) as required by SIU Management.Participates in claims decision recommendations. 

EDUCATION:

College Degree and prior investigative experience with an insurance carrier. 

Professional Insurance Designations desired, but not required.
