Proposal Coordinator
Akima is looking for a Proposal Coordinator to play a key role in securing new business. Reporting to the Proposal Coordinator Manager, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and submit winning responses to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and subcontract opportunities. In this high-visibility role, you’ll work closely with Program Management, Business Development, Service Area leads, and Subject Matter Experts to produce high-quality, client-facing documentation that highlights Akima’s capabilities. As a Proposal Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of our business growth, driving the development of compelling, high-quality proposals that win contracts and fuel success. This role isn’t just about checking boxes—it’s about orchestrating a seamless proposal process, inspiring teams, and crafting strategic, persuasive responses that stand out. Responsibilities Act as the central point of contact on assigned proposals, and lead and guide the work of the Proposal team. Analyze RFQs, RFPs and RFIs to create proposal outlines and development plans. Support the Proposal Manager with proposal kickoff and debrief meetings, as well as detailed proposal plans, schedules, outlines, and compliance matrices for all phases of proposal development. Coordinates all production aspects (word processing, graphics, editing, proofreading, reproduction, printing, collation, and binding) services in support of proposal activities. Act as a company liaison for large, outsourced proposals to ensure company process in followed and compliant proposals are submitted. Provide support to BD and Capture on subcontract proposals and facilitate data calls from prime subcontractors. Facilitation of multi-disciplined groups in brainstorming and developing solutions to key aspects of the proposal providing tactical advice and guidance with the ability to drive strategy and solutions that result in winning submissions. Solicit management reviews and approvals during proposal development. Provide meaningful reviews and feedback in relation to proposal content, ensuring compliance to RFP requirements, evaluation criteria, and technical requirements are addressed. Lead and/or support the development and submission of winning bid responses by working with the Bids team, internal experts and contractors, as required. Research and gather information to include corporate information, product information, and other standard materials. Qualifications BS/BA degree, or equivalent in relevant experience. 3+ years’ experience in a corporate environment. Must have general knowledge of proposal process, with the ability to develop and track action items and timelines. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Proven ability to work across organizations with effective communication, leadership, and project management skills. Proven attention to detail. Excellent presentation skills. Ability to work in a deadline-conscious, results-driven environment. Highly organized, team-oriented, enthusiastic, independent thinker, and collaborative. Having outstanding written and oral communication skills is critical.
