Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to become a part of the fastest growing segment in the automation space. The Proposal Engineer will propose winning commercial solutions to manufacturing customers, using high levels of ABB technology to achieve cost-margin targets, ensuring market competitiveness and building trust in customer relationships within the Robotics and Discrete Automation in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Proposals consist of the preparation of mobile robotics commercial quotes to develop domestic and/or international business and includes making recommendations to ensure that bids and orders received are at acceptable profit levels. The work model for the role is: #LI - HybridThis role is contributing to the Robotics & Discrete Automation Robotics Division in Auburn Hills area.You will be mainly accountable to:•\tSupport the sales team and assigned customers to define the most appropriate and profitable robotics mobile solutions. Carry out the precise calculations and analysis as well as prepare the necessary reports to ensure the correct estimation of costs, deadlines, flows, etc. in the preparation of offers for new projects. Write complete proposal documents and revise contract documents, as required. Compile data for reporting contract scope, terms, cost and profitability, to management.•\tTechnical support to the team during meetings and negotiations with the customers. Prepare technical/commercial offers based on customer specifications requirements and Product Lines specifications. Participation and support in the risk assessment of projects. Perform lost proposal analysis, identifies potential cause, and recommends future actions.•\tBuild and promote strong and lasting relationships with customers by understanding their needs together with the account manager. Direct target price and target cost analyses using historical data and competitive intelligence for all Local & Global Execution tenders, drive process improvements and provide recommendations for improvement of the tendering process and the tools utilized therein.•\tEvaluate contract implications and risks, Conduct Local & Global Risk Reviews, prepare estimates, documentation and participate in establishing market-competitive sales prices.Our team dynamics You will join a dynamic, talented, and high performing team, where you will be able to thrive.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field and minimum 8 years of experience; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments is accepted. Prior experience with mobile robotics preferred.Require domestic or international travel, up to 20%Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
