MV grows its business through the competitive bid / public procurement process – our projects center around customer requirements and detailed specifications. The proposal writer L3 plays an important role in this process. Attention to detail and compliance with requirements are essential.
The proposal writer is part of a 20-person sales team tasked with responding to complex Requests for Proposals. As the proposal writer, you will be focused on reading comprehension and writing persuasive narrative that showcases the experience and knowledge of our firm. The proposal writer works in conjunction with a proposal coordinator who drafts initial RFP response documents; the writer customizes these documents by incorporating sales-driven strategies, value propositions, and your own research of the customer. The average proposal size ranges from 75-150 pages, not including attachments. This process requires skill and focus on reading comprehension, proofreading, and document formatting.
The proposal writer must be an effective communicator who can work independently and as part of a team. This job may require late night and weekend work to meet production timelines.

Custom writing for each bid including cover letter, bios, executive summaries, proposal narrative, resumes, RFP requirements, Best and Final Offer letters, and all writing that pertains to our proposal response.Read all elements of the RFPs including a custom Executive Summary, DBE requirements, attachments, addendum, strategy documents, appendices.In consultation with the business development team, articulate a strategy for the response; write value propositions; strategic thesis, gather data to prove thesis statements—this job requires chasing artifacts, data, stats (turnover, tenure, on time performance, road calls, etc.)Research of customers public transit systems, reviewing short range transit plans, and other customer publicationsDemonstrate expert-level Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.Must follow MV style guide and adhere to branding styles Interview individuals to gain insight for writing compelling and persuasive resumes and biographiesPay attention to detail and cross-referencingFollow instructions and take directionUpdate and create new boilerplate for MV’s boilerplate libraryAnalyze customer's requirements; customize proposals that comply wholly with the RFP requirementsMust manage multiple projects, letters, and requests for information while working collaboratively with a large teamAdhere to the proposal schedule and all internal deadlines and collect needed input from stakeholdersParticipate in multiple calls relative to strategy and status of projectsCreate and update proposal content for multiple product linesTrack industry trends, company successes, research future RFPs, and proactively plan for new contentBA or BS degree in English, Journalism, Psychology, or Social Science and three (3)+ years of demonstrated complex proposal writing experience, preferably in public/passenger transportation. Experience in strategic development and persuasive writing Must be resourceful, ask questions, create solutions Superb reading comprehension skills Ability to translate complex operational concepts into interesting narrative Critical thinking skills are a must, as is creative problem solving and time management Transportation sector experience preferred High Emotional Intelligence Expert or highly advanced proficiency with MS 2013 Office Suite and the ability to perform extensive research is a requirementDuring the course of employment, employees may receive and have access to confidential information.
