This is the principal faculty member of the proposed Physician Assistant Program responsible for directing and coordinating the didactic year. The Academic Coordinator will be involved in planning, developing, and coordinating curriculum and assessments. The Academic Coordinator will also develop and manage the didactic schedules, exams, and other assessment tools, as well as advising students.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality and engaging instruction. Duties will include maintaining data and writing reports for accreditation. The faculty will be responsible for academic mentoring and advising to learners. The Academic Coordinator generates and delivers classroom learning experiences and clinical skills instruction within the essential medical and clinical science topics based on the individual’s qualifications. Works in collaboration with the Director of the PA Program, Medical Director, and other principal faculty to manage the curriculum will be necessary to ensure high quality instruction.
This principal faculty member will also participate in the program’s admissions process and maintain awareness of the PA profession. They will also be expected to participate in service to the program, university, and healthcare profession. The proposed Physician Assistant Program is currently under development and is currently targeted for a Fall 2026 start date in the new Health Professions Building (HPB) in Conroe, TX. The HPB is an innovative facility that is scheduled for completion in January 2026, which will house graduate programs in Athletic Training, Dietetics, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant.
Educational Requirements for the Position Must possess a Master’s or Doctorate in Physician Assistant Studies or an equivalent discipline and be qualified to teach at the Master’s level. Candidates must be NCCPA-certified and have current Texas PA licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of Texas. Experience Required for the Position A minimum of one year of experience as a clinician.

Engage in the program’s development, review and revision of the mission statement, program goals and competencies as indicated.
Program Self-Assessment and Evaluation:
Participate in the programmatic data collection and critical analysis, as well as apply the analytical results to create action plans and identify strengths and weaknesses in the curriculum.
