Job Purpose 

The Propulsion System Controls Test Engineer will be responsible for planning, conducting and reviewing testing activities to ensure the correct operation of the propulsion controls, electric motors and drive unit systems for Canoo’s electric vehicles.

Responsibilities (80s of the Position) 

Plan, Develop and execute test cases for Propulsion Systems on HIL and in-vehicle Specify and plan installation of test equipment and facilities. Develop scripts to automate the Hardware in the Loop test systems using python. Verify all propulsion controls features and functions before software is deployed to customer vehicles Create Test to requirements coverage matrix for propulsion system controls features. Automation of test cases and test environment to achieve “lights out” testing. Support debugging of software issues at HIL bench and vehicle level.

Required Experience 

Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent. 3+ years of relevant experience. Experience with HIL tools such as Dspace/NI/Tracetronic ECUTEST Experience in modelling in Matlab/Simulink, GT-Suite. Experience in EV features such as the power electronics devices, electric motors and drive unit systems for electric vehicles. Capable of carrying out wiring/debugging HIL issues. Understand advanced concepts relating to RS-232/422/485, PWM, UDP, GPIB, CAN, LIN. Understanding of revision control software (SVN, GIT, etc.) Experience with low-level and high-level programming languages (C/C++ and Python) Experience working in Polarion and JIRA.

Preferred Experience  

Knowledge of Battery Electric Vehicle architecture with detailed understanding of Powertrain, Battery, Chassis, Body, and 12Volt systems and an understanding of vehicle firmware Familiarity with electric motor controls and high voltage motor controller devices Knowledge of UDS ISO14229, debugging of vehicle buses: CAN/LIN/Ethernet

Travel Requirements

 Business travel up to 20% annually.
