The Prospect, Grant and Research Specialist is responsible for the implementation of prospect management and research strategies to support the fundraising success of the Cambridge Health Alliance Foundation.
Support will cover the comprehensive aspects of a full-functioning Development program (Annual Fund, Events, Major Gifts, Foundations and Corporate Giving and Planned Giving)
This position works in close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, Director of Development, and Development staff to identify and develop new and existing prospects, shape solicitation strategies and proposals, and implement effective prospect management systems. The position will contribute to and lead in the development of grant and proposal submissions and provide briefings for various events and cultivation engagements for leadership of CHA (Senior Leaders, Clinical Leaders, Development Staff and Foundation Board members)
The Researcher position conducts and documents research regarding corporations, foundations, businesses, and individuals for identification and cultivation of donors; and is responsible for related file and database systems. Qualifications:
Bachelors’ Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in non profit prospect research.
Minimum of three to five experience in prospect research and database management, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
Demonstrated experience in leading research and development planning and execution.
Knowledgeable in supporting and interpreting research to advance the Development Department strategies.
Effective and efficient project management skills gained through experience in project/process management projects and /or initiatives.
Requires experience with word processing, spreadsheets, database systems and general office equipment. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to work effectively with others.
Knowledge of computer search engines and fundraising. Experience with Bloomerang, Raisers Edge preferred, but not required.
Qualified applicants must have experience in research and knowledge of techniques, including online research sources.
Excellent skills in electronic data-file manipulation, development and database management. High level of ability in compiling, interpreting and analyzing data, with the ability to analyze the process, compile outcome data, and suggest process changes in order to improve effectiveness. History of high self-motivation and capable of working independently and cooperatively in a small group.
Ability to teach and educate colleagues and users about the functionality of the database and how to use it effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with health care providers and within all levels of the organization. Ability to analyze data and ascertain prospective donors’ ability to give. Ability to research prospective major gift donors.
Poised, professional manner with the ability to express oneself clearly and empathetically in interactions with others in all forms of communications, i.e. verbal and written, one-on-one and group, etc.
Ability to communicate in a direct and professional manner that engages dialog in a manner that resolves differences.
